In this session pupils will become ‘history detectives’ and will find out about some key aspects of the local area’s history, focusing on the railway that ran through Colyton to Seaton and the coming of the Tramway. They will evaluate a range of historical sources and decide which are the most reliable, and do some real research of their own to find out about the old branch line, the closure of the railway, the coming of the Tramway and how Seaton has changed over time. The session will end with a speculative look at transport of the future – is there a future for trams?
